A benefit concert featuring Grammy-nominated Flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert and his band Luna Negra will take place on Saturday, Nov 19, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at the Park Theatre at 560 32nd St. in Union City. Proceeds will benefit the José Marti Center for Cultural Education. “Inspirations of José Martí”
José Martí’s Birthday will be celebrated with Cuban food, Latin music and interpretations of José Martí’s writing through song, art work and poetry readings. 6 – 9 PM

Educational Theater
“Everybody’s Doing It” will be featured. It is a show about peer pressure. This show correlates with José Martí’s Character Theme (respect) for that marking period. Each marking period theme focuses on a positive character trait.

Poetry Jam
Each grade level (6, 7 & 8) will have an assembly of local poets. These poets will entertain the students with poetry readings.

Sights and Sounds of Education
Parent and the community are invited for a guided tour of the school, where art work, poetry, and music from local talents will be displayed. 1-3 PM
